Dr. Tony Yu Zhou holds a doctoral degree in biomedicine and has lived and worked extensively in both China and Europe. He is the co-founder and CEO of Inspirees Education Group (Netherlands/China), an international organization dedicated to education, professional training, and academic development in the creative arts, movement, and therapeutic fields. Originally trained as a biomedical scientist, Dr. Zhou developed a strong interest in modern dance and dance movement therapy in 2002. Since then, he has played an active role in advancing dance movement therapy and the broader field of creative arts therapies in China, fostering professional education, international exchange, and cross-cultural collaboration. Dr. Zhou founded Inspirees Institute and Creative Arts in Education and Therapy (CAET) – East, West and Global Perspectives, an international scholarly journal dedicated to advancing dialogue and research across creative arts, education, health, and therapy. He is also a Certified Movement Analyst (CMA) and dance movement therapist. He has served as team leader of the Chinese Group of Arts Therapy within the Chinese Psychological Society and as a guest professor at the Central Academy of Fine Arts in Beijing. He is also a co-founder and core member of the World Alliance for Dance Movement Therapy (WADMT). Dr. Zhou is a founding member and Executive Director of the International Association of Creative Arts in Education and Therapy (IACAET), where he contributes to the international development of the creative arts in education, therapy, health, and wellbeing.
